Dog Helmet

Dog helmets are lightweight headgear for dogs that ride along on motorcycles, scooters or bikes, or that simply love to stand out on outings. This small collection includes a biker style helmet, a sport helmet and two helmets sold with matching sunglasses, in sizes S, M and L; the helmet with glass is made for small dogs or cats. For eye protection on its own, see our dog glasses and goggles.

How to choose the right dog helmet

  • Activity: Riders often choose a helmet with glasses for wind and sun, while dogs on bike rides or walks may prefer a lighter sport helmet. The biker dog helmet is designed for sport activities such as running.
  • Material: The sport helmet and motorcycle helmet use ABS, and the biker helmet uses a high gloss PC plastic shell. These hard shells are light enough for small dogs to wear.
  • Ventilation: Look for vent holes so your dog stays cool. The dog sport helmet has multiple holes for airflow and stability, and the biker helmet has a ventilation system.
  • Fit and straps: Adjustable straps and ear holes keep a helmet in place. The biker dog helmet uses adjustable hook and loop straps with ear openings.
  • Eye protection: The dog helmet for motorcycle includes sunglasses with UV protection, and the dog helmet with glass also comes as a helmet and sunglasses set.

Sizing and fit

Measure the width of your dog's head between the ears and the head circumference just in front of the ears, then compare with the size chart on each product page. The dog helmet for motorcycle is sized S 4 inch, M 5 inch and L 6 inch. If your dog falls between two sizes, choose the larger one and tighten the straps. A helmet should sit level, not cover the eyes and stay put when your dog shakes its head, with room for one finger under the chin strap.

Pairs well with

A helmet should always go with a secure way to ride. Use a dog carrier backpack for motorcycle or bike trips and a well fitted dog harness clipped to the carrier. For slower outings, a dog stroller is an easy alternative, and the rest of our dog travel gear covers road trips. Before a long ride, read how to travel with a dog.

Dog Helmet FAQ

Do dogs need a helmet on a motorcycle?

A dog helmet adds a layer of cover for the head and, with glasses, shields the eyes from wind, dust and sun. A dog helmet is not a substitute for safe riding: always secure your dog in a carrier designed for the purpose, keep speeds moderate and check local rules for riding with pets.

How do I get my dog used to wearing a helmet?

Introduce the dog helmet slowly. Let your dog sniff it, reward calm behavior, then place it on the head for a few seconds at a time before fastening the straps. Increase the time gradually at home before trying a short ride.

Can cats wear these helmets?

The helmet with glass is described for small dogs or cats, and the smaller sizes in this collection can suit cats with the right head measurements. Check the size chart and introduce the helmet gently, since many cats need more time to accept headwear.

What if the helmet does not fit?

Measure first to avoid surprises. If the size is wrong, you can request a return within 30 days under our return and refund policy.
