Dog Carrier

Our dog carrier collection covers every way to bring a small or medium dog along: backpack carriers for hikes, shoulder bags and handbags for errands, car seats for road trips and strollers for longer outings. It suits owners of small breeds, senior dogs and puppies who cannot yet walk the whole route, and each product lists its dimensions or weight limit so you can match it to your dog. For hands-free trail days, see our dedicated dog carrier backpacks.

How to choose the right dog carrier

Your dog's weight: Start with the weight limit. The Front Backpack Dog Carrier comes in S for dogs of 1.0 to 2.5 kg, M for 2.5 to 3.5 kg and L for 3.5 to 5.5 kg, while the Striped Cotton Car Seat takes dogs under 12 kg.
How you will carry: Backpacks with padded straps spread the load over both shoulders on long walks. Slings, purses and handbags are quicker to grab for short trips to the vet or the shops.
Ventilation: Look for breathable mesh panels, as on the Small Dog Backpack Carrier and the Small Dog Carrier Purse, so air keeps moving around your dog on warm days.
Weather: For cold months, the Dog Carrier Backpacks model has a fleece interior and is described as windproof and rainproof.
Car travel: A dog car seat gives a small dog a defined place on the back seat. Waterproof Oxford fabric and machine washable covers make cleanup easier after muddy outings.
Bigger dogs: When your dog is too heavy to carry, a stroller is the practical option. The Large Dog Stroller is rated for up to 55 kg.

Sizing and fit

Weigh your dog and measure its length from nose to base of tail and its height when sitting, then compare those numbers with the dimensions and weight limit listed on each product page. Your dog should be able to turn around and lie down comfortably inside. If your dog sits between two sizes, pick the larger one.

Dog carrier FAQ

What size dog fits in a dog carrier backpack?

Dog carrier backpacks are designed for small dogs. The Front Backpack Dog Carrier, for example, covers dogs from 1.0 to 5.5 kg across its sizes. Always check the weight limit on the product page and make sure your dog can sit or lie down without being cramped.

How do I get my dog used to a carrier?

Leave the carrier open at home with a familiar blanket or toy inside so your dog can explore it freely. Reward calm behavior, then try short walks around the block before a long trip.

Is a dog car seat or a carrier better for car trips?

A dog car seat gives a small dog a stable, raised spot on the back seat and is easy to leave installed. A carrier is more practical when you also need to walk with your dog at the destination.
